Mar Pauly Kannookadan - The new Bishop. Following the resignation of Mar James Pazhayattil, the first bishop of the eparchy of Irinjalakuda, Rev. Dr. Pauly Kannookadan then working as the Executive Director of the Syro-Malabar Liturgical Research Centre and as the Secretary of the Central Commission for Liturgy and that of Clergy and Institutes of Consecrated Life at the Major Archiepiscopal Curia, was chosen and appointed as the new Bishop. Accordingly His Beatitude Mar Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil promulgated the Major Archiepiscopal Letter of Canonical Provision and declared it on the same day.
